Hi Michelle,

I am extremely interested to read your book on Olive Thomas. I have long been a fan of hers, obsessed a bit you could say, and I participated in the documentary Sarah Baker did with Timeline Films and I'm really looking forward to your book! I have a fan's interest naturally but also I have a more substantial interest... I would love to make a film about Olive and Jack.

I loved your book on Gene T. by the way!

Very happy Ollie has been in your hands!

Warmly,

Allison Anders

Hi Michelle,

I was a real stick in the mud this weekend as I spent most of it reading your EXCELLENT book on Marjorie Main. I could not put it down until I was done. It was a very easy read and it was just wonderful. I knew absolutely nothing about her before your book. Other than a few movies like The Harvey Girls, The Long Long Trailer and 'Ma Kettle' I could barely name a movie that she was in. Her body of work is far more extensive than I ever imagined and I did not realise how much stage work she did. Where are these characters now? Types like Marjorie are long gone. Nice to learn a little about Percy Kilbride as well. It was so ironic that he was the complete opposite of his "Pa" character. Such a sad death. Thanks for writing such terrific biographies about truly wonderful stars. Keep it going and take care until next time.

Best always,

David Miller (Melbourne, Australia).

Michelle,

Just wanted to say thanks for the great book on Marjorie Main.  It was a long overdue tribute to a great lady.  I often remember her comment when asked why she had her husband's remains moved to Forest Lawn; she said she'd been alone most of her life and didn't want to be alone there. So much feeling conveyed in just a few words.

Anyway, thanks again, and I look forward to your work on Frank Morgan and Olive Thomas.

Sincerely,

Rick

Michelle,

I wrote you a few weeks back about starting to read your book
Joan Crawford -- Her Life In Letters.

I must tell you , I just finished it and its my favorite Joan book in my collection -
- aside from the 2 she wrote.

You brought her back to life again.

I absolutely loved every page in it. You truly penned a beautiful and loving tribute to the greatest star Hollywood has ever seen. If she were around to read it, I think she would be very flattered.

You did a fantastic job.

I thank you so much...

A hardcore Crawford fan.

Love

Christopher

Michelle,

First and foremost, I am a HUGE Joan Crawford fan.

I just recently bought your book: Joan Crawford:Her Life In Letters.

Although I haven't gotten to the "Letters" part of the book I felt compelled to write you. From what I have read so far, Joan would probly be so impressed with you and your writings. You truly set the record straight as to the facts and lies about her. You have done an amazing job. I am so looking forward to the new book you are putting out in 2007. I just want to thank you so much for putting out "The Letters" book. I know she would have been very proud. Please keep up the good work and good luck in all your researching as well as in life.

Much love to you,

Christopher Lopa

Dear Miss Vogel ~

I spent the day reading your amazing book on Joan's letters.  It was such a joy, and so well put together.  I loved every single bit of it - especially discovering a Joan Crawford I'd never known before.

Thank you. and I look forward to catching up with your other works in the near future.

With every best wish,

Mac

Dear Miss Voge ~,

What a wonderful book you have written [on Joan Crawford], I haven't been able to put it down. Of course everyone knows that Mommie Dearest was practically a work of fiction and I think from your book people can see that her character was really nothing like the one the dreaded daughter wrote about.

Thank you for writing such a fantastic book. Congratulations on a really wonderful book.

With best wishes,

David Moreton.

Hi Michelle,

I have just finished Gene Tierney and what a tremendous story you had to tell about her. With all the excitement of Australia being in the world cup (soccer) I have been staying up to watch their efforts so reading was put on the backburner for a couple weeks.

I felt so sorry for Gene. Her life was plagued with many troubles that seemed to live with her until her death. There was not much happiness at all, maybe her marriage to Howard Lee and some of her time with Oleg Cassini. She did love her daughter and grandchildren though.

You told a wonderful story and I hope the book is doing well for you. Gene has many fans still around the world. I don't think I ever saw "Scruples" maybe it will be out on DVD as a lot of that kind of stuff is.Nor have I seen "The Pleasure Seekers."

Great job Michelle, I'm sure that you are most proud of this book.
Congratulations!

I will soon start the Marjorie Main book. I am looking forward to this book enormously as I know "NOTHING" at all about her. Other than the movies she appeared in her life remains a mystery to me.

Are you working on anything at present that you are happy to talk about? I love the way you write so easy to read and enjoy. One day I'd love for you to autograph these books for me. It would be a treat. I am most happy to have your books in my collection.

Kind Regards,

David Miller

Dearest Michelle ~

I have just finished your newest book on Gene Tierney. What a touching, informative, grand tribute to this most extraordinary woman. Even though I have studied, read and inquired about Gene for more than ten years, your book has answered so many questions that I have had about her for so long. I can't thank you enough for you doing this book about a woman that was more beautiful than nearly all, stronger than most of us and greatly misunderstood. There is much more to this than you can possibly imagine, but for now, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. She needed you to do this book, and you know why. You know more than you have said or written… and for this… reat thanks are given to you. This is not the end, but a great beginning.

My warmest and most sincere regards,

Michael Alameda

Dear Michelle ~

I look forward to reading the copy of your recently published book, "Gene Tierney: A Biography," which you so graciously sent to me. After reading the acknowledgments and foreword, I am sure you have written a wonderful account of the the life of someone who was very dear to us at Hart Galleries and to all of Houston. I look forward to learning much that I had not previously known about the life of this very special lady and I must say, after quickly leafing through the book, I am amazed at the comprehensive group of photographs you have gathered.

Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness in sending me this special book, what must be the result of a lengthy research and writing project for you. Congratulations to you on your achievement - a beautiful way of memorializing the life of a special woman who touched my life, but even more importantly, inspired yours.

Yours very truly,

Jerry M. Hart

Dear Ms. Vogel ~

I have spent four engrossing hours reading your excellent biography on Gene Tierney. Her movies have been a lifelong avocation, and of the over 800 biographies / autobiographies on film stars, yours is one of the best written and compelling!

I can still remember the first viewing of "Laura" at a neighborhood theatre not far from my old school. After dinner tonight, "Laura" gets its 24th VHS viewing. It's one of the timeless films.

Thanks!
Michelle

Dear Michelle:

Your wonderful book arrived Tuesday and I can't thank you enough. I am so enjoying it and I know others will too. It is such a good read. What a great job you have done with it. I know the subject will be of interest to the fans of all of the people you selected. I am very flattered to have had my father among them. Thank you again for keeping me "in the loop" during the process. Good luck with what I am sure will be a great success for you.
